Depression

Depression is a very serious mental health problem that can happen to anyone at any age and is never a normal part of life. Sufferers of depression experience multiple symptoms.

It affects FEELINGS, causing a loss of pleasure from daily life, feelings of sadness, emptiness, worthlessness, or hopelessness.

It affects BEHAVIOR, causing people to have less energy, to sometimes withdraw from others; to eat more or eat less; to sleep more or have difficulty sleeping; or to be restless and irritable

It affects THOUGHTS, negatively impacting concentration, memory, and the ability to make decisions. Individuals with depression think of life in a very negative way, and may have thoughts of suicide or death.

Although depression is treatable, people often resist treatment because they feel it isn’t serious or that it is a personal weakness rather than a serious medical problem. On the contrary, the act of reaching for help actually represents personal strength, whereas waiting to get help can complicate the problems over time.
